<span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Title: </strong>Deity (Covenant #3)<br /><strong>Author: </strong>Jennifer L. Armentrout<br /><strong>To Be Published:</strong> November 2012 by Spencer Hill Press<br /><strong>Pages: </strong>360, paperback</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>My Rating: </strong>5/5 stars (Can we make that a 10/5?)</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: medium;"><strong><em>** I received an ARC from the publisher</em></strong></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: medium;"></span> </div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: medium;">Summary from Goodreads:</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-size: medium;"></span> </div>
<div>
"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden. </div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome. </div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
*****<br />
<strong><u>I'm trying my best, but this isn't going to be spoiler free. Mild spoilers ahead.</u></strong><br />
</div>
<div>
I have to start off with saying that Deity is the best book I've read by Jennifer L. Armentrout to date! It's that "Oh My GODS". Let's say it together now: OH... MY... GODS! </div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
JLA opens <em>Deity</em> with a dream sequence which gave us a twisted flashback to <em>Pure, </em>then we're pretty much back to sharing a bed with Seth, Alex wanting him out of her bed, and all the things that she'd left behind during her trip to New York returning to haunt her. <br />
<br />
And let me tell you that the 'Ish' hit the fan majorly.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Alexandria is feeling even more alone with Seth always lurking and Marcus becoming even more creepy than usual. But we got what we had been begging for since the beginning of the series- Aiden St. Delphi, hotness galore. It's entirely too much to handle that the entire world implodes on itself.</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
Jennifer doesn't seem to know what she's doing to her loyal fan base, because my life completely stopped for the release of Deity. The wait until the next book is slowly killing me and I have no idea how I'm continuing on... The ending of Deity is more than anything anybody expected and I'm sure to here the outrage and rioting fans soon. </div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
I'm ready to read everyone else's opinions as soon as possible. I hope you ladies enjoy the ride as much as I did...</div>

The students--children of the wealthy and powerful--carry on with their lives in blissful ignorance, while Sydney, Jill, Eddie, and Adrian must do everything in their power to keep their secret safe. But with forbidden romances, unexpected spirit bonds, and the threat of Strigoi moving ever closer, hiding the truth is harder than anyone thought.</div><div> </div><div>Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Richelle Mead's breathtaking Bloodlines series explores all the friendship, romance, battles, and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive. In this second book, the drama is hotter, the romances are steamier, and the stakes are even higher.</div><div> </div><div>*****</div><div> </div><div>I'm sorry but I have to open with: Oh my goodness, that dedication was so sweet and the story is simply divine! </div><div> </div><div>I devoured this book within a few days with my busy work schedule. I seriously carried it everywhere I could so I always had the chance to get a page or two completed. From the opening chapter to the very last word I felt as if I was constantly on the edge of my seat. </div><div> </div><div>I enjoyed all the new characters that were introduced. Well, everyone except for the boyfriend... What was his name again? Bradley? Brian? Brendon? Brent? Brayden? No seriously, I can't remember. And the fact that no one else could remember his name either paid homage to just how unimportant he was. </div><div> </div><div>There were plenty of fun moments. Some of my favorites would be Sydney trying to teach Adrian how to drive a stick shift, Sydney using more magic, and Jill's dreamy mood swings-</div><div><em>"Sydney, khaki raelly suits you".</em></div><div> </div><div>Richelle Mead left all kinds of hints for readers throughout the entire novel that this ending had me throwing the book across the room, jumping up and down, screaming and raving. Sydney Sage drives me completely mad! How can anyone deny what's staring them in the face? </div><div> </div><div>The teaser chapter from Bloodlines #3 that was published with this release has me even more excited for our next installment. </div>Briehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15051205204432121017noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3323378582515989371.post-16846287294491163272012-05-04T22:34:00.003-07:002012-06-19T23:59:20.403-07:00Review #6: Obsidian by Jennifer L. <br />
<span><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">There is need. And then there is Fate...<br /><br />Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.<br /><br />When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.<br /><br />When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span><strong><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">*****</span></strong></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Ever since my best friend, Aj started my obsession with <em>Half-Blood,</em> I've been one hooked fish; and that was just the beginning. Pure started off with a fight and keep me enthralled through out the story. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">There is so much I want to say, but I can't with out spoiling the book! Alex is as strong as ever and the newest developments have me in desperate need of the next book in the series, <em>Deity.</em></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">First of all, my heart was truly thrown into turmoil because Seth open up somewhat and we got to see the sweet side of who he could be. I totally fell in love. But there are <em>storms</em> brewing, especially with the things going on in Aiden's head and heart. I'm beyond confused now! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I cried. I laughed. I screamed. And I nearly had multiple strokes while hiding at my part-time job so I could sneak in some reading time. *wink wink*</span><br />

The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister Primrose, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before — and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color. </div><div> </div><div>The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.</div><div> </div><div>Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.</div><div> </div><div>In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting as The Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.</div><div> </div><div>*****</div><div> </div><div> I read this beautiful piece of art during the Christmas holidays, and let me tell you how killer it was for me to find the time to read while I worked in a busy retail store. It was damn near impossible! All my free time was used to read. I hardly slept because I was so enthralled with Juliette's struggles. I was literally was hiding in the restrooms at work to read Shatter Me on my kindle app for Blackberry. If that doesn't attest to how highly I think this novel then I don't know what else to tell you other than read it for yourself. </div><div> </div><div>Tahereh Mafi's writing style is lyrical and viewing the wasted world she created through Juliette's eyes is beyond words. The setting and characters were built and described so well that I felt as if I could touch them. I was very emotionally invested in these characters and I'll be waiting on the edge of my computer chair for the title and release date of the next installment of the Shatter Me series. </div>Briehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15051205204432121017noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3323378582515989371.post-47796460937485762502012-01-24T10:44:00.001-08:002012-06-20T01:49:39.500-07:00Mini Review #1: Cinder by Marissa Meyer<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicJLDvgonDFF6Pl6fxCl6QH4FkrzruEF9axuxWozZGFzhh7y87IiokYum6uGzuNsI0xxcZTyiSh9jNpqSUnQ8ubzc0B97Jm0WlyrKwNeajw-ydLEfol1Ve63W9ljbmwFmYex-JrcmyJQs/s1600/Cinder.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px; width: 130px; height: 200px; float: right; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5701299344177514562" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicJLDvgonDFF6Pl6fxCl6QH4FkrzruEF9axuxWozZGFzhh7y87IiokYum6uGzuNsI0xxcZTyiSh9jNpqSUnQ8ubzc0B97Jm0WlyrKwNeajw-ydLEfol1Ve63W9ljbmwFmYex-JrcmyJQs/s200/Cinder.jpg" /></a><br /><div><strong>Title:</strong> Cinder<br /><strong>Author: </strong>Marissa Meyer<br /><strong>Published: </strong>2012 Puffin<br /><strong>My Rating: </strong>4.5/5 Stars<br /><br /><em>I received a ARC from GoodReads. She’s also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her “the Duff,” she throws her Coke in his face.<br /><br />But things aren’t so great at home right now, and Bianca is desperate for a distraction. She ends up kissing Wesley. Worse, she likes it. Eager for escape, Bianca throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with him.<br />Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out Wesley isn’t such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she’s falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone.<br /></div><div align="center">******</div><div align="center"> </div><div align="left">I was very interested in The Duff earlier in the year after it was mentioned by A.J., but after seeing some of my influential bloggers that didn't have a lot of promising reviews, I was a little scared and disappointed. I'm happy I read this novel anyway. </div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left">Keplinger communicated a lot in here and I felt everything she was trying to say and more. Bianca was a realistic character and her choices were as well. I don't want to give the story away completely but I want to touch on some of the things that I found profound. </div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left">First of all you could see the minor self-hatred Bianca and Wesley both held for themselves as the story progressed and they way the both tried with these issues by running away and engaging in sexual situations. Keplinger also included the token homosexual friend although he wasn't a main character and barely a supporting character, but she gets points for not ignoring that homosexuality exist in life and especially in high school. I had a love hate relationship with Bianca's friends Casey and Jessica(and family). They didnt seem to care so much in the beginning of the story, but thats a serious and real part of everyday friendships; and they only really started to pay enough attention to her after she started distancing herself from them in my opinion. </div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left">Over all the story was amazing and ended up emotional invested in the novel and Bianca. I'll be sure to pick up Kody Keplinger's future works.</div></div>Briehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15051205204432121017noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3323378582515989371.post-81520645931136842932011-10-12T13:35:00.000-07:002011-11-14T12:53:07.527-08:00Review #4: Bloodlines by Richelle Mead<div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu_RpzyuvsmkOSaDZsopzunrsFQzH1aXg2igLj3X_lWOOWP39WEIUmEQZMu1VdDelho6ZXa50GtpRHkS5RAk2Oqc1huyoUnlQlo3FyTz5QLuNdbaoUwITWPogFyQ15AeMHqDuXYqi9iQo/s1600/bloodlines.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px; width: 132px; height: 200px; float: right; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5662725554020879634" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu_RpzyuvsmkOSaDZsopzunrsFQzH1aXg2igLj3X_lWOOWP39WEIUmEQZMu1VdDelho6ZXa50GtpRHkS5RAk2Oqc1huyoUnlQlo3FyTz5QLuNdbaoUwITWPogFyQ15AeMHqDuXYqi9iQo/s200/bloodlines.jpg" /></a><br /><div><strong>Title:</strong> Bloodlines<br /><strong>Author:</strong> Richelle Mead<br /><strong>Published:</strong> 2011 by Razorbill<br /><strong>My Rating:</strong> 4.5/5 stars<br /><br /><br />GoodReads Summary:<br /><br />The first book in Richelle Mead's brand-new teen fiction series - set in the same world as <strong>Vampire Academy</strong>.<br /><br />When alchemist Sydney is ordered into hiding to protect the life of Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, the last place she expects to be sent is a human private school in Palm Springs, California. It wasn't his finest moment. And it's the last time William Armstrong will sully the St. Andrew's community, says Principal Waddlehead-er, Waverton.<br /><br />THE PUNISHMENT<br />That's when a teacher worried about Will's home situation comes up with an idea. Why not let Will, a talented guitarist, give back to the school in a progressive manner? Why not have him play in . . . THE SCHOOL MUSICAL?<br /><br />THE MUSICAL<br />Now Will is stuck in the school production of The Boy Friend. He's a laughingstock, and he has to give up his weekends for a show set at a girls' finishing school.<br /><br />THE PLAYERS<br />There's the trombone-playing seventh grader who proclaims himself Will's best friend and refuses to leave his side. Then there's the undeniably attractive leading lady. Although she might be in love with her costar, the new football hero (and dazzling singer!).<br />Sharp-witted, funny, and poignant all at once, this is the story of a boy going through a difficult time who, in a most unlikely way, discovers the person he truly wants to be.<br /><br />****************************<br /><br />I rate books by how well I related to the characters, writing style, and the emotional investments I have such as anger, humor, and the infamous 'cry factor'...<br /><br />And I must say that WILL exceeded all my expectations and I'm in love! And it should have seeing as it has a blurb written by Aussie author Melina Marchetta;</div><div> </div><div><strong><em>"Will's voice is so authentic and strong that you feel as if you either knew him, want to know him, or hope that one day you'll come across him."</em></strong></div><div><strong><em></em></strong> </div><div>who, forgive me A. I cried a few times in the end, because I completely understood her emotions and indecision.<br /><br />4 stars because the settings could have used more description and other minor things, but I loved the story(maybe because I was a flutist and was pushed like Ally) and the characters for the most part. </div></div>Briehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15051205204432121017noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3323378582515989371.post-56350248212284292202011-09-14T13:46:00.000-07:002011-11-14T12:53:33.661-08:00Getting to know the blogger #1<div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div>Hi friends and fellow bloggers! I'm very new at this and wanted to introduce myself as Brie; short for Brittany. I'm a young 23 year old housewife and aspiring editor. I have many passions in life<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvIGzaaOh8Q29RM5YIfBOR0R_rJN7ftp918GJqqMlQmjCw3FOPA8ZbSId7Y7zQUHt41gig_B7DpuxITkd6yStJN5VikwVKHNrZh07j-ooy543DYudSAfzUlJ2zSL4E6qp8gdsvGQUEWdw/s1600/Amen%252C+LA.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px 0px 10px 10px; width: 82px; height: 119px; float: right; cursor: pointer;" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5652327860522304898" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvIGzaaOh8Q29RM5YIfBOR0R_rJN7ftp918GJqqMlQmjCw3FOPA8ZbSId7Y7zQUHt41gig_B7DpuxITkd6yStJN5VikwVKHNrZh07j-ooy543DYudSAfzUlJ2zSL4E6qp8gdsvGQUEWdw/s200/Amen%252C+LA.jpg" /></a> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtcZjNfTLhyphenhyphenJYe_NLvaJtAfPm58An1whKxsoVF_iY2VbKEefqZRywgLFy9lN1rHokSCbep3j-QjFo3Ek3_v94Taod-FT_0AtRj9p6inyj8HothLMXXTdLFVYGW6QeZUZyLAjaig4kXkHU/s1600/the+other+side+of+dark.jpg"></a>and spend my days gaming, reading, writing or editing for fanfiction authors, and just looking after my small family and friends. </div><div> </div><div>Because my life is 'action packed' I don't devour books like I use to and getting one 400 to 600 page novel in a month is good for me. My goal for the is set a mere twelve books, so that's one a month and shouldn't be all that hard but I'm behind. After moving things should settle down and I can pick up two new books and complete the one I currently have on hold, <em>Amen, L.
